Squeeeee!

So remember how yesterday I said that I had nothing exciting to report? Well, that may have been true at the time, but little did I know that as I typed those very words…

…my sister was going into LABOR!!!!!

Say hello to my perfect niece, Amelia Alice Robinson. Born 7 pounds, 13 ounces, on March 20th, 2013.

Mia, for short!

I can honestly say that’s it is SO true what they say, I feel so differently about this baby, knowing she’s part of my family. I mean, I’ve always liked babies. You know, I think they are cute and I really like being able to follow my friends’ adventures in parenthood on Facebook and whatnot. But I’ve never really been one to have baby fever, or go head over heels over for other peoples’ kids. I like them, but I don’t loooooove them. I CAN say, though, that the very second I saw Mia’s picture, it felt like my heart just swallowed her up. Here I was, worrying about all the changes that are happening to our family dynamic, and now I can’t even imagine what things would be like without her here. I LOVE her, and I haven’t even met her yet!

Seriously, you can ask Sean. He can verify that there was Kristen Bell vs. The Sloth level of happy crying.

Jenny and baby (and grandma, hehe) are all doing great. I already love her so much, and I am seriously chomping at the bit to head to Houston.

My dad and I (and Daxter, hehe) leave to start the drive down tomorrow. I’ll be in Texas for the week, and then flying back next weekend. I can’t wait!!

And what an excellent name. 😉

  5. Awwww!!! Congratulations, Aunt Gretchen!!! Isn’t it just the weirdest and most amazing thing to love a baby so much who you haven’t even met?? When my niece was born, I definitely did the Kristen Bell vs. The Sloth-like crying. I can’t even imagine life or our family without her in it, and she was a surprise! Congratulations! I cannot wait to read more about little Mia!

  6. Yay Auntie Gretchen!

  7. How does Jenny look so good just after giving birth? Is this a Whasian super power?

  10. I had to come out of lurkdom to say — Ahhh – so cute! Congrats on becoming an auntie!!!

I’m not a big kid person either (despite having 2 of them -lol)but there’s something to be said about them joining your family.

    • Love it! It’s such a wonderful name!

  11. Aww, congrats auntie! Get ready to spoil her with love and kisses and candy. <3

  12. Congrats!! That Kristin Bell video is SO funny and cute. Why isn’t Harry going too? 🙂

    • Unfortunately Harry isn’t the best with other dogs, and my sister has two pups of her own. So Harry’s gonna spend some QT with his Uncle Ben while I haul Daxter down to Texas with me! 🙂

      • Aw cute – have so much fun!

  13. Congratulations Aunty Gretchen! Welcome to the Aunt Club! It does feel different, I have 6 godchildren whom I adore but the nephew is special because he looks like me and I see our family in him! It does do something to the family dynamic when the next generation comes, all good, you just have a sense of things continuing. I found it a bit overwhelming and if that’s what it feels like for aunts and uncles, imagine what it feels like for parents!

  14. Congrats on becoming an aunt! It’s the greatest thing. Mia is such a cutie.

  15. She is precious, enjoy the heck out of her!

  16. CONGRATULATIONS to each one of you in your family with the addition of this new family member. Safe travels to you and enjoy your time with your new niece!

  17. Congratulations. I am the aunt to 9 nieces and nephews and they are all so special. The pictures are adorable. The one of your Mom, Sister, and new niece is extraordinary. Their expressions are so full of love and awe…just beautiful.

  18. Ahhh I’m so excited for you!!! Isn’t it the greatest feeling!!!?!? You’re an aunt and this little person is a human who will look up to you and love you and you’ll watch them grow (but you dont have to parent them haha) Congrats!!!!! I hope your sister is feeling well!

  19. Congratulations, Auntie! So exciting! Have a great trip 🙂

  20. Congrats. as a new grandma, I know exactly how you feel

  21. Congratulations! She is so beautiful!
