11 Things

Oh c’mon, you knew this was coming. It’s been a while since I’ve participated in one of these thoroughly self-absorbed surveys that I absolutely lovelovelovelove doing, so when I read this one on Carly’s blog this morning, I knew I had to steal it!

1) Which armrest do you use at the movie theater, the left of the right?

I don’t have a preference, other than using the armrest in between me and someone in my party, rather than the one between me and a stranger.

2) Did you have any pets growing up? Do you have any now?

Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize we hadn’t met.

3) If you were going to pick an actor or actress to play you in a movie, who would it be?

I like to pretend that our shared Whasian-ness makes me a dead ringer for Lindsay Price. 😉

4) What was the last crazy dream you had?

Well, the dream I had last night involved a mountain of treasure piled high atop my bed, my hair having miraculously grown out, and a small Native American girl telling me I had to break up with my boyfriend. Actually, come to think about it, it wasn’t that crazy by my normal standards. My subconscious is generally pretty whacked out (attacking velociraptors! Bounty hunter assassins! Etc!)

5) What’s the last movie you saw in theaters?

The Artist.

6) What was your first cell phone like?

Pink Nokia brick phone, all the way. It changed my life forever, getting that phone.

7) What did you say you were going to be when you grew up? What do you actually do?

What I said I was going to be when I grew up: on Broadway. What I actually do: flounder and live vicariously through others.

8 ) Would you rather be outside when it’s really hot or really cold?

I love summer for the activities, the warmth, and all that good stuff, but I hate being super sweaty and uncomfortable. So if given a choice between the two extremes, I’ll take super cold. There are only so many items of clothing you can take OFF, you know.

9) Valentine’s Day – love it or leave it?

Oh, I’m a big mushygushy romantic at heart, so I tend to love the flowers, hearts, chocolate, and PINKEVERYWHERE! that surround this time of year. To be fair though, my feelings about this “holiday” usually depend entirely on the general status of my love life.

10) What’s under your bed?

Boxes of winter clothes, 100 leftover tea candles and votives from an event 2 years ago, and occasionally this guy:

11) Remember when everyone used AOL? What was your screen name?

Oh, AIM. I remember thee well. My brother created my very first screen name for me when I was in the 6th grade: GHPikachu. Go ahead and laugh if you like, but Pokemon were pretty damn cool back then.

Your turn: pick one (or all 11) and tell me your answer in the comments!

  1. 6) What was your first cell phone like?
Nokia! That rectangular one that was grey and lit up on the sides. I used to throw that thing against the wall hoping it would break so I could get a new phone. All the pieces would come apart, I’d put it back together and it’d work perfectly!

8 ) Would you rather be outside when it’s really hot or really cold?
As long as I am near some water (a body of water, preferably), bring me that heat! I’d rather be hot than cold any day!

BTW where do you find these? I need to find some cute surveys for my blog!

  2. Great list! I can so see you with a pink cell phone!

Recently I dreamed that I was a vampire yoga teacher.

(I mean that I was a vampire and taught yoga, not that I taught yoga to vampires.)

    How weird is that?

  3. 11 – My AIM name was (and still is – I use Trillian and still have some friends on AIM) ema2d. When I created the name way back when they didn’t allow special characters. I was going for ema_d, but settled for ema2d since it was suggested as a replacement. If I had a nickle for everytime someone commented about it being a bra size, I could probably retire. AIM name fail. LOL

  4. My AIM name was LaDivaFabulosa. Gosh, I probably haven’t used that thing in almost 10 years- but I was in college from 98-02, and everyone LIVED on AOL. (There was no such thing as Myspace or Facebook- there was “friendster” which came out my senior year.)

I had a weird dream last night that an old friend from high school came to my house and I didn’t recognize her because she had gained about 100 lbs. We went to my moms and saved my mom’s dog from drowning in her backyard, which was flooded for some reason. And his tail got bit by a turtle. And for some reason, there were no stairs leading down from the deck, so we had to jump. WTF??

  5. My AIM was Numbnss4Sound. Could I be anymore dramatic?

And I hate question 7. Makes me so sad to think that I didnt follow through. I wanted to be an Anesthesiologist. Now… I’m a budget analyst.

  6. Ha! I had so many AOL names back then. Gosh, I think my first one as Sexxie721 or DiVine0721?

I want to see The Artist. Did you like it?

    • u can disregard the artist comment as I clicked on your link. * embarrassed * Lol. 🙂

  7. I started reading this when I was in a meeting but then I had to stop because I started cracking up at your dream.

    • Oh ho ho, and that is just the TIP of the iceberg, my friend.

  8. Haha I totally had a red Nokia Nextel [walkie-talkie] phone as my first phone! My friends and I called it the brick because it was literally big and red! When I was younger I said I wanted to be a marine biologist because I wanted to swim with the dolphins… But I ended up being a teacher [I guess I still work with “animals”] ;P
