Hours of Happy

Hip, hip, huzzah! Our Monthly DC Blogger Meetup #2 happened last night and was a lot of fun!

We met up at Front Page in Dupont Circle for some drinks and good times. I never really “got” happy hour before, but I think I do now. It really puts a positive spin back on your day!

Stephanie and Allison chatting it up.

A few of the bloggers there are also going to be at the Healthy Living Summit this weekend (leaving tomorrow morning for it! Ahh!) so it was nice to have a pre-introduction introduction, so to speak.

Sarah, Nicole, Claire, Erin, Stephanie, and Allison. Whee!

I actually got (shock!) wine:

And along with my crisp pinot gris (I say as if I haven’t been repulsed by wine for 22 of the past 23 years), I had some obviously very, very healthy nosh:

Les Pommes Frites.

Fried food is still delicious, I don’t care what you say. And of course I shared! The rest of my day was pretty balanced anyway to allow for some luxury anyway — check my long, LONG overdue Daily Eats post if you don’t believe me!

Real Nutrition. :)
Claire was very supportive of my choices, hehe.

So after my first official DC happy hour, I think I can say that it was mucho enjoyed…o. If anybody ever wants to grab a drink in the city after work, just let me know! (See? I can be a city girl. Just call me Carrie Bradshaw.)

I love her.

Remember, these meetups are becoming a standing monthly occurrence, so if you’re ever interested in being put on the email list just holler at me!

The rest of today will be dedicated to preparing for HLS and the trip up to Philly. I suspect there may be more than one soft pretzels consumed this weekend…

Today’s the last day to enter for a chance to win TWO bags of Adora chocolates. Giveaway winner will be randomly drawn tomorrow morning!

Do you happy hour? Do you sad hour?

  1. We used to do happy hour at Front Page in Arlington back when I worked there. I miss happy hours- i rarely attend them now because of my puppy waiting for me at home though!

  2. I say fried food is delicious! One time at a restaurant is certainly more than acceptable!

  3. Last night was so much fun — sorry I had to duck out a little early but I’ll see you (and some of the other ladies) at HLS this weekend. Definitely looking forward to future happy hours and DC meet-ups!

  4. I always enjoy a good happy hour…too bad Houston is a little far to travel to meet up with you guys. LOL. Looks like y’all had fun!

  5. I love happy hours – one thing I miss about working in the city. Those happy hours seemed especially….happy! I guess Crystal City does the job okay too though :). Another good place for happy hour is Cafe Asia either downtown or in Rosslyn. I prefer the Rosslyn location but the one downtown is on I St NW between 18th and 17th (near Farragut West).

  6. How about a Get Psyched hour?! I love having those.

  7. It was so nice to meet you yesterady and HH was a lot of fun! Can’t wait for the next meet up πŸ™‚

  8. Happy Hour is so much fun! And I love what you got to eat — the perfect Happy Hour food πŸ™‚

  9. Consider this me HOLLERING to be included on the list for DC happy hours! =)

Also, can’t wait to see you tomorrow!!!

  10. It was great to see you again! I’m already looking forward to the next one. And thanks for posting such an unflattering picture of me. πŸ˜‰

  11. LOVE this Gretchen!! Claire recently told me about your meet-ups and I’m from DC too, how fun!! Your pictures are fabulous and it looks like you all had such a great time πŸ™‚ Maybe I’ll see you at the next one! xoxo

  12. Happy Hours are great!! If I was in the DC area I’d be ’bout it! I fresh to blogging so I haven’t attended any for that but my friends I try to do it once a month. It really brings “old” and new people together!! πŸ™‚

  13. if you want the best cupcake ever, head to Sweet Elizabeth’s in Manayunk. seriously. hands down. best cupcake I’ve ever had. well, to date that is πŸ™‚

  14. Looks like a fun time! I wish I could meet up with friends like that after work. I miss living in the city so much!

  15. definitely HAPPY hour πŸ™‚

Funny story – Jennifer from knack4nutrition is a coworker/desk mate of mine and we both realized we’re bloggers AND we’re both big fans of yours πŸ™‚ She mentioned the happy hour to me but I trekked home to Annapolis (cause i’m lame) however! I would LOVE to meet up with some awesome DC bloggers any time πŸ™‚ for happy hour πŸ™‚

    • Yes! Jenn totally mentioned you and I think that is so funny — what a small world! Next time you both definitely have to come out! I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop. Yay DC bloggers!
