Wedding Bells (Weigh-in)

Notice anything different around here? If you’re viewing this post in email or Reader, be sure to click through and check out the new header that the amazing Bailey Doehler has been working on so diligently for me! Bailey is absolutely fantastic to work with. And as a fellow weight-loser (haha!) Bailey really gets it, you know? Let me know what you think!

Love, love, love.

This weekend was full of love. And, even more specifically, it was full of weddings!

IMG_0664.jpg

Well, a wedding and a handful of bachelorette parties. Hehe.

No pictures of the latter, of course. But plenty of the former! The wedding was at the Vienna Botanical Gardens, which I’d never been to before. Who knew that such a gorgeous venue was so close by?

Take your places!Purple flower eaters.

Ahhh, I love weddings.

Let them eat (wedding) cake!

I don’t think that Beppe & David could have picked a more beautiful place, or a more perfect day (a not humid day in August? Unheard of!)

Ahhh, how I love weddings. The details were all just perfect. And even though it was still obviously incredibly hot sitting outside during the ceremony, it was well worth it just to see the happiness of the bride shining through.

IMG_0658.jpg

It was really fun to have the whole family there, goofballs that they are:

IMG_0639.jpgIMG_0638.jpg

Even Ben was there in his professional role as the photographer. He’s so cool.

IMG_0646.jpgBe cool.

Added bonus is that it was just another excuse to get dressed up (you know I love a good excuse, hahaaaa!)

IMG_0642.jpg

And the food! What a spread it was. You usually think of wedding food as being pretty unpalatable but that was certainly not the case. There were passed appetizers and a whole fruit & cheese table. (Be still my heart!)

IMG_0660.jpg

We were served mixed green salads with mandarin oranges, craisins, and a raspberry vinaigrette as well:

Before I destroyed the buffet with a giant plate of pretty much everything: mushroom ravioli, roast beef, roasted veggies, fingerling potatoes, and some chilean seabass that was, unfortunately, not worth the environmental guilt.

IMG_0680.jpg

As you can see, I failed to get a picture of it all because I was too busy demolishing my plate, but you can see a little ravioli and beef poking through from plate #2, hehe.

Dinner was bookended with a mojito (the evening’s signature drink!) and a piece of neopolitan wedding cake:

Super fun flavor, right? There was jam in between the layers!

Wedded bliss

Congratulations, Beppe & David!

And now for some (hopeful) celebrating of my own:

Starting Weight: 246 lbs
Last Week’s Weight: 189.9 lbs
This Week’s Weight: 189.8 lbs
This Week’s Loss: -0.1 lbs

Ooooooor not.

Maybe those extra mushroom ravioli weren’t such a good idea, eh? Ah well. What with the celebrating people nuptials and impending nuptials and the new job starting and the adjusting to a new schedule and everything else, I know I wasn’t paying as close attention to what I was eating as I should have. I mean, obviously. I haven’t posted even a single Daily Eats post yet this month (bad Gretchen!)

But, I press on! Sure, it’s a bummer, but my routine is just getting established and I just found out that there’s a free gym in my building at work and the Healthy Living Summit is this weekend so! I know that the motivation I’ve been lacking and the schedule I’ve needed to implement is right around the corner, and I’m not giving up. I persevere, and I know another loss is just around the corner.

Onward!

  2. I love the new header. It’s beautiful and clean.

  3. OMG these photos are gorgeous. LOOOOVEEE THEM. You look incredible and trust me, I get your wedding obession!

    • Which is why we are two peas. Duh. 😀

  4. That header is awesome and those wedding photos are fantastic! Your photography just gets better and better each week!

  5. Header looks great on the blog! The wedding was a blast- just gotta always try to remember that celebrations shouldn’t be excuses to piggy out, but like you said, you’re in the midst of getting yourself into a new routine so good luck!

  6. The new header is amazing! I love the font and the green really pops. Mojitos and wedding cake look like a great combination.

  7. Two things:
1.) The new header looks AWESOME!
2.) I can’t believe you lost .1 even though you had a bachelorette and a wedding! I’d consider that a HUGE success!

    • Haha, I guess that’s a very good point. Each week I feel like it’s just me on the scale, praying that I won’t be back over 190, hahaha. Victory!

  8. The new header is awesome…love it! I am also loving the dress you have on in the pictures from the wedding…too cute!

    • Yet another victory, since that’s a dress that I definitely, er, grew out of but now fits again! Whoo! 🙂

  9. I love their table decorations. The upside down wine glasses with flowers inside is a GREAT idea. And I love their cake, so cute and elegant. It looks like so much fun. The blog header is to DIE for. I really really really like it.

    • Isn’t that such a cute and creative way to do the centerpieces? I never would have thought of it but it was really perfect. *files it away in the back of her mind* hehe

  10. Falls into the category of ‘could be worse’. It was fun exercising with you a couple of days this past week. Let me know how the new routine at work goes and the office gym!!

  11. Get it girlll! The blog looks amazeee 🙂

  12. Gretchen, personally I would consider anything not a gain a huge success after such an event-filled week! I love that you didn’t deprive yourself at the wedding and still didn’t gain. That’s a victory, my friend, and every .1 pound counts 🙂 great job, and press onward! (I have, however, missed your Daily Eats posts!)

Love the spiffy new blog look!

  13. Honestly, I think you did great all things considered. Heck you went to a wedding and two (?) bachelorette parties! And you still lost weight!
Great pictures, by the way, as per usual. I like the idea with the upside down wine glasses.

  14. Gretchen!

David and I both agree, these photos are GORGEOUS! I am so glad you had fun at the wedding and you enjoyed the food! You looked beautiful, I am so proud of how far you have come =) Love the new header!

Is there anyway you could send me the photos you took at the wedding? David and I would love to have copies them! =)

    • Of course, Beppe! It’s your wedding, after all! And anyway, the photos are merely a reflection of how beautiful the wedding was, so you deserve all the credit! I’ll ask Ben what the easiest way to get copies to you would be. Now stop spending time on my blog and go back to your HONEYMOON! 😀

  15. You are lookin so good! The wedding looked beautiful! I sure do love weddings 🙂 They make me happy!

  16. LOVE LOVE LOVE the header! Perfect!

You look fantastic. That dress is adorbs and the hair just pulls it together. You are totally rockin’ that short do.

  17. Gretchen, LOVE the pictures!! As a member of the wedding party I was so wrapped up in everything that I never even saw the cake until I saw your picture. Wow! What a great cake!! Thank you for taking such great pictures, you have a great eye. It was funny, during the reception, I was sitting at a table at one point with two girls who were under the age of ten and they were commenting at the centerpieces. I had to giggle. (But right? what a cool way to do the centerpieces!)

    • They were a huge hit! So creative. Glad that you like the pictures — the wedding was beautiful though so it certainly wasn’t hard to get good pictures from it! 😀

  18. I’m finally back in town, so I know I’m a little late on this – but I LOVE the new look of the blog! It’s so clean and fresh. It’s perfect!
