The Jabarie Brown Podcast

Good morning, everyone! I hope you all had a truly fabulous holiday weekend (for those of us that didn’t have to work yesterday, that is!) First things first, I just want to run through a quick picture recap of the awesome (and annual) Falls Church Memorial Day Festival that I attended yesterday. It was super fun but SUPER HOT. Like, holy-crap-how-is-this-even-possible-hot. I thought Daxter was going to pass out. But it was a great time nonetheless. See for yourselves!

Asian Daxter

Daxter, you blinked! Tsk, tsk. Let’s try again.

Much better. Hahahahaha.

I also got to meet up with blog reader Ania, who recently moved to Falls Church and is awesome! I heart her.

And let us not forget about the PARADE! Mad love for my little city:

Don’t worry, I didn’t just eat fries and funnel cake. I just stole some of Ben & Taylor’s, while Ania and I got some stellar shrimp & grits from the Mad Fox booth later. Yay!

All in all very good times. But thoroughly exhausting to spend that much time in the sun! I didn’t have the luxury of being able to rest for too long afterward though, since I had somewhere to be! To go see this guy, specifically:

Yes, my friends. That is Mr. Jabarie Brown, citizen extraordinaire! And last night I had the pleasure of being a guest on the Jabarie Brown Podcast, a weekly podcast starring my friends Jabarie, Russell, Michael, and Panda.

It was so much fun! We talked about the blog, my weight loss, Jabarie’s misguided weight loss attempts and everyone’s goals for finding their happy weights. Time really flew, and the conversation was fun and interesting — I fully encourage you guys to check it out! You’ll be able to hear the voice of the girl behind the blog, too (it’s always so weird to hear my voice recorded!) You can listen to the podcast at their website or you can also download it in iTunes by searching “Jabarie Brown Podcast”.

Fair warning: there is some occasional profanity (not from my ladylike mouth though! Hahaha.) so you may want to plug those headphones in if you’re at work. My interview specifically starts around minute 17.

And that, my friends, is that! Be sure to let me know what you think of the podcast, and also I’d love to hear how you guys celebrated your Memorial Day Weekend!

  1. I will totally listen to your podcast when I get home — no speakers on my work computer πŸ™

People who can walk on stilts just amaze me, and scare me at the same time.

    • Oh no! No speakers at work? I don’t know if I’d survive the workday without speakers + the Glee station on Pandora, hahaha.

  2. Have you ever seen Anchorman? Well I hope so because I thought you named your dog Baxter, as in the dog from the movie, which was hilarious.

Looks like you had a great time at the festival! Wish I could have been there!

    • Hahaha, yeah, people always think his name is either Baxter or Dexter. Both of which would have been awesome names on their own, so we just combined ’em: Daxter. Hehe. And c’mon, “Have you ever seen Anchorman?” PLEASE. Who do you think you’re talking to!? πŸ˜‰

  3. Funnel Cakes! yay! For fried goodness πŸ™‚ I HEART Festivals! big time!

    • So fun, right? And generally tend to be few and far between so eating the funnel cake is a NECESSITY instead of guilty-inducing, hehehe.

  4. congrats! that is wonderful! it was funny hearing the voice behind all those written words πŸ™‚ I totally believe you are right thinking that every person has her/his own “set” weight that we simply canΒ΄t fight! I am reading a book about it atm (License to eat) and it is fab!

    • Haha, isn’t it weird? It’s crazy even for ME to hear my own voice in a recording, I wonder what everyone who only knows me through the blog thinks when they hear my voice… hahahaha.

  5. I AM SO JEALOUS! i miss memorial day…and the 90 degree weather, if you can imagine it. here in seattle summer is just not starting! very frustrating…i worked for a few hours on memorial day, then played tennis, then some conveyor belt sushi followed by cold stone!

    • That still sounds like an awesome way to spend the holiday… but feel free to come back to us here anytime!! πŸ˜‰

  6. Ill have to check out the podcast when I get home from work haha. But how exciting!!

    • Yeah it was really fun! You’ll have to let me know what you think… I’m still weirding out over hearing my own voice recorded, haha.

  7. hahaha you’re so great on the podcast! I love it!

Looks like a HOT but fun Memorial Day! My Memorial Day consisted of sleeping in, french toast for bfast, a HAIRCUT (summer cut woooo!), grilling out and watching too many episodes of Criminal Minds. Crazy, clearly. πŸ˜›

    • Did you like how they roped me into trying to talk about my love of Vampire Diaries? Hahahahahaaaaa. Also, I wanna see your haircut!

  8. Poor Daxie looks SO hot! I hope you all wore sunscreen πŸ™‚ Yay for memorial day parade fun- sorry i missed it! (but i think the weather was nicer and milder up north!)

  9. Loved meeting you/hanging out with you yesterday! You’re awesome! So glad we finally met up! : )

You sound like such a natural on the podcast! haha And I loved the bikini post btw…..you totally rock Gretch….keep up the awesome journey!

Also, I had three stains on my white tank by the time I got home…..how? from what? I have no clue! Did you manage to remain spotless?! And they didn’t come out in the wash! Total bummer! White is just clearly NOT meant for me lol

Totally looking forward to hanging out again : ) Koi Koi for sure!
