Memorial Weigh-In

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! This is going to be super quick because I’ve got places to go and people to see (ha!). No, seriously though, it’s a holiday, I am NOT at work right now, and I am going to enjoy it! Not before I report on this past week’s weigh-in findings though. Prepare yourselves.

Drumroll please…

Starting Weight: 246 lbs
Last Week’s Weight: 195.5 lbs
This Week’s Weight: 193.2 lbs
This Week’s Loss: -2.3 lbs
Total Loss-to-Date: 52.8 lbs.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! Omgomgomgomg, I’m sooooo happy! I seriously think this is my first real two-pound loss in, ummmm, forever. Finally some real progress! Guess returning to all that strict calorie counting is working, eh? Holy crap, I’m officially in the low 190s. Which means, I’m super close to being in the 180s! Which I don’t think I’ve been in since high school. Yay! A good way to start the day. 🙂

And okay. In celebration of this weigh-in, since I am estatic to finally be making some real progress after what feels like months and months of going nowhere, I am going to do something moderately humiliating. The following are pictures of me on vacation with my family in St. Maarten in December 2009.

Aside from the fact that my sister is just so, so cool, yes. That is me in a swimsuit. In my bikini. “Befores.” Blech. And the following is me at the pool this past Saturday:

Okay, I can’t say too much here because I have to hit the “Publish” button before I wuss out on posting these pics, but there you have it. Me in all my 50-lbs lost, barely clothed glory. Hahaha… ha? I like to think that this is a pretty good showcase of the progress I’ve made, and not just in actual pounds lost. At this time last year I would have been squatting in my chaise under my coverup, trying not to draw attention to myself (do you have any idea how long I had to search just to find some pics of me in old swimsuits? Let alone that bikini shot. And you can see why, haha!) But this year, I’m borrowing a little of Samantha‘s bikini confidence and just going for it. I’ve worked hard for my body so far! It deserves to get some sun, too. Hehe.

So that’s all folks. An encouraging weigh-in, some embarrassing progress pics, and me saying Happy Memorial Day, and enjoy your holiday!

Have you had a moment when you realized how much your weight loss or healthy journey has changed you? And not just physically, but changed or bettered the person you are inside? For me, I think that moment was Saturday, at the pool. When I realized that it was okay for me not to hate my body. To have confidence that I don’t think I’ve felt in a very long time. 🙂

  2. Awesome! You look great in your bikini and I’m so proud that you are willing to share your figure and just put it out there. I myself haven’t quite reached that level of confidence to show myself in pictures in swin suits.

      • I concur. It’s a rad photo. You’re trying to judo chop the camera or something! This blog is all about showing what’s REAL Jen, remember? Hahahahahahaha

        • I have no recollection of why i am waving my arms like that in the photo, except maybe there was a wave coming…?

  6. You look really great — congratulations on your success so far! I LOVE the bikini! And, yes, for me, I realized that my weight loss changed me when people started EXPECTING me to do healthy things (eat healthy, exercise, etc) — and started coming to me for advice. I am amazed every day that people see me as a FIT person (65lbs, 8 years ago, and still maintaining the loss!)
