Play Ball! (and Weigh in!)

Saturday Steve, my sister, her hubs and I all moseyed into DC on a rainy day to see the DC Nationals play the Atlanta Braves. Dan and Jenny (my sis and her husband) met while they were living in Atlanta, so it was a nice throwback to all the times they spent at Turner Field.

Well, that is, it might have been, if it hadn’t been freezing, windy, and errrrrr bipolar weather-wise. I’m talkin’ wind and rain one minute, and warm, wonderful sun the next. Oh yeah, and hail. Did I mention the hail? Frickin’ HAIL in April! What the WHAT?!

Larry King threw the opening pitch, though you can’t really tell it’s him on the screen. But check out those storm clouds! Jenny and I cuddled up during the cold moments and basked in sunny glory during the warm moments:

Aaaaand, yeah… Steve just generally made that face each time to try to ruin our picture. Hahaha. It was actually pretty fun though, what with the weather and the fact that it involved sports.

I am not, as you can probably tell, what you would call a “sports person” (much to Steve’s chagrin.) But it was nice to spend time with the sis, get some fresh air, and eat some crappy, ridiculously expensive ballpark food (hehehe.) Jenny and I split a cup of boardwalk fries and a soft pretzel.

The Braves ended up losing the game, which made getting hailed on totally not worth it, but they seriously dominated the Nats the next day. In beautiful, sunny 55-degree weather, of course. Not that I really care who won either way, what with me being the aforementioned NOT-sports fan, but I was a little jealous that we didn’t get to go THAT game just because of the weather, hahaha.

The next day, after Jenny and Dan DOMINATED the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run (as did many of you other amazing people out there, I know!) we met up with my cousin Nicky who was visiting from Virginia Beach! Actually, Jenny and I met up with her after the baseball game as well, but I just don’t have any photo documentation of that (plus we didn’t do anything exciting, haha.)

We all went to Haandi, an Indian restaurant in good ol’ Falls Church. It was delicious! Jenny and I split an appetizer that I can’t remember the name of, but was basically Indian tempura vegetables (the eggplant was the bomb diggity) and Aloo Saag (I think that was the name), which was potatoes in a delicious curry. Nomnomnom. Of course, I didn’t take pictures of my food because I’m la-zy, so enjoy these portraits that Ben took of us instead. 🙂

All in all, a very fun weekend, but full of baaaaad eating, so I was admittedly pretty nervous for my weigh-in this morning. Between the fries & pretzel at the ballpark and a veggie burger & fries for lunch the next day (Elevation Burger is the best!) I wasn’t expecting great things.

Starting Weight: 246 lbs.
Last Week’s Weight: 196.4 lbs.
This Week’s Weight: 195.8 lbs.
This Week’s Loss: -0.6 lbs.
Total Loss-to-Date: 50.2 lbs.

So I was right. It wasn’t a great loss. Slightly more than half a pound really is nothing to write home about. However, it’s still a loss which is kind of amazing considering all my junk foodery over the weekend and, more importantly… it offically brings my total loss to over 50 pounds! *Cue fanfare* 😉

I’m very, very excited to have reached this milestone, and am looking forward to seeing that “finish line” on the horizon. Not that once I cross over into my goal weight range I’m going to be reverting back to my old, unhealthy ways, but it’ll just be nice transitioning into a new kind of lifestyle. I figure I’ve got about another 25-ish pounds to lose (at which point I can determine if I feel like I’m at my “happy weight” or if I want to keep going a little bit). And honestly, it really does seem oh-so-very-manageable (especially compared to the 70+ I was looking at before I started!)

You can check out some comparison pictures in last week’s weigh-in post, and thanks for sticking around this far, guys. Here’s to 50 pounds I will never see again. 🙂
