I am soooooo tired. I don’t know if it’s due to the fact that yesterday I was in such an exuberant, high-spirited mood or because last night the wind was howling outside my window so loud it literally woke me up (I’m thinking probably the latter) but I am one exhausted puppy. No, wait. THIS is one exhausted puppy:

Look at his smooshy little face, teehee. 🙂 I don’t think that Daxter necessarily got a full night’s sleep either due to my constant tossing, turning, and pillow-over-my-ear-ing but hey, at least he gets to sleep in for the rest of the day! Harry, however, was not phased. In fact, I don’t think the big lug moved an inch the entire night:

In my next life, I want to come back as one of my dogs.

Anyway, as you can probably tell, life in general has been a sleepy struggle this morning. There has fortunately been one bright light in my morning so far, though:

That’s right! Girl Scout Cookie Season has arrived! I supported my coworker’s daughter by purchasing all of the worst cookies available: Samoas, Tagalongs, and Thin Mints. Thin Mints are pretty deceptive in their terrible-for-you-ness, actually. You know, what with the word “Thin” in the title and all. Oh well, good thing I have a brother and a couple o’ roommates at home who I’m sure will help me out. And those FAT Mints are headed straight for the freezer (is there anything in this life better than a frozen Thin Mint?) to be slooooowly chipped away at over the course of the next several months. Actually, not sure if it’s gross or not, but I think that our household may have just finished off the last couple of Thin Mints from LAST year not too long ago!

I believe that this will be a good challenge for myself to exercise portioning and control. While I’m trying to get away from the mentality of thinking of food as a reward (or, conversely, punishment) I do think that indulging in a single cookie or two that I love (and that supports those little girls in their green berets to boot!) every now and then is not a bad thing. Just gotta be aware of the caloric count and work it into my daily total! Frankly, I think it’s already a sign of how far I’ve come that the boxes are still sitting in a neat little stack on my desk and haven’t been ripped open and inhaled yet. Progress! 😛

Question of the Day: What is your favorite Girl Scout cookie? Buy any boxes this year? Already eaten through a couple of ’em? (I’m looking at you, Bethany!) 😀

  1. My favourite are thin mints but i find that even with trying to exercise self control in my case, it’s just better not to have them around. So i still support the girl scouts! I just buy cookies only Dan likes and not me 🙂

  2. Wow, talk about Daxter cuteness to the max.
I have personally never taken part in the whole Girl Scout Cookies parade.

  3. I mean if you really really need someone to eat those samoas, I guess I could help. I’d be willing to do that, just for you! 🙂

  4. I will eat ALL the Tagalongs! Just to help you with your weight loss journey, of course. 😉

  5. SAMOAS!!!!!!!!!!! Best. Cookies. Ever.

  6. Cramps usually come from the way we breath and not necessarily how much. Try taking bigger and slower breaths which will get more air into your lungs. Also make sure you get all that air out and that your shoulders are back and not hunched up so that your diaphragm is open as much as possible.
Another trick is to take notice of your breathing pattern. Many people find that they breathe in when they strike with one foot and out with the other. If this is the case try to switch it up when a cramp comes on.
Bananas and other potassium rich foods are said to help with side stitches as well.
And lastly, cramps go away over time as your lungs get used to the activity.

    • Thanks for the advice! I think that shifting my focus from breathing MORE to berating BETTER (deeper) will be really good for me.

  7. OMG I LOVE TAGALONGS! And Samoas!! Although they’ve renamed them to Caramel Delights… Interesting that your box is still called Samoas! I bought 4 boxes of Samoas and 1 box of Thin Mints for my bf’s parents… And we already went through our first 2 boxes of Samoas and 1 box of Tagalongs… So I bought more! Ugghhh 🙁 So bad.
