Dinner Sammie

I will say this, food photography is a lot more fun when I don’t have to use my iPhone! I’m also starting to fall victim to the whole awkward food blogger habit of putting my food outside or in random places with good lighting to take photos. This plate made it all the way to the table on the back porch:

Dinner #1 tonight was an open-faced sammie of leftover salmon from last night’s dinner with a Laughing Cow cheese wedge and spinach on top. The bread is half a thick slice of tomato loaf from Panera – yum!

Today wasn’t a great day, but I guess now that I’m at the tail end of it, it could have been worse. I’m definitely coming down with something (as if I’m not ALWAYS sick, right?) I’ve been feeling it since before Christmas, but have been in serious denial. I think it’s come to a head today though – my throat was on fire this morning and through the entire day a sharp pain occurred whenever I swallowed or tried to speak loudly. Not fun. And then work basically just made things worse by being, well, work. After that whole mess concluded and my sammie was consumed, I forced Steve to drive me to the store to pick up some medicine (good ol’ Dayquil has actually helped dull the pain a little as of right now, so… positive things?) and I caved a little and picked up some comfort food, too.

Since Dinner #1 happened at like, 4:17 today, I naturally had to partake in a sequel. Dinner #2 consisted of a measured (!) portion of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and some steamed broccoli. I didn’t have a super nutritious day, considering I skipped breakfast and only had a little bit of leftover veggie pasta for lunch, but due to these same factors I did have a pretty skimpy calorie day, so I don’t feel that bad about the mac. I didn’t make it with any butter, either, so there! 🙂

So with this borderline illness looming on the horizon, I’m hoping an early-to-bed strategy will put me back at somewhat fuller health tomorrow… I don’t think I can handle having to be at work AND feel crappy for the rest of this thankfully short week. Think thoughts of soothed throats and clear sinuses for me!

  1. Ahh, but they look so nice with some background in the photo other than a white plate.
