Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, friends! We’re about to engage in opening the traditional single Christmas Eve present so this won’t be along post, but I just wanted to wish you guys a happy, jolly, merry Christmas (and/or whatever other holiday(s) you may be celebrating this season! Festivus, anyone? :)) I also wanted to finally post our Christmas decoration pics that I promised like, 3 weeks ago. Hahahaha, blame Ben.

Also, I wanted to show off my sweet Christmas PJs:

And my Christmas miracle is that both top and bottom are size L! I think I’ve almost kicked the XL for good… in regular clothes, at least. Jenny and I went swimsuit shopping for the cruise yesterday, and I had to bite the XL bullet for one of the suits I bought (but only one of them!) If I’m brave, I’ll post pics of those later. Or, at the very least, I’m sure you’ll see them when I’m bragging all about my frickin’ sweet vacation later. 😛

So, going back to holiday traditions, in my family we always get to open one present Christmas Eve, and then we open the rest on Christmas morning. The rule in our household is that we’re not allowed to wake our parents up until 8 (blasphemous, isn’t it?! I’ve tried to egg them out around 7:30 before, but no dice…) but my siblings and I are allowed to open our stockings before they get up. We’re not allowed to open any wrapped presents that may be inside, though! And then once everyone is up and has their coffee (that’s a more recent addition to the tradition, hehe) we each go one-by-one and open our presents! I like to draw out the morning as long as possible, so the one-person-at-a-time part is especially crucial!!

What are your Christmas or holiday traditions? Anybody do anything similar to my family? Or are we the only Christmas-tradition nutjobs out there? 😛 My family’s also pretty big on the decorations as a means of getting into the holiday spirit:

Whatever your traditions and whatever you may be celebrating: Happy Holidays!

  1. I think it’s interesting that was have the exact same holiday traditions that you mentioned, except that we are not allowed to open anything without my parents and we no longer need the “do not wake up the parents until” part because the “kids” don’t want to get up until, like, 11:00.
Also, your gingerbread house looked fabulous! You didn’t mention that we came to visit though:( I am so devastated.

    • That should say “that we have the exact same…”
