Happy Shopping Trip!

Other than the fact that I spent entirely too much money (what else is new, right?) I just had the best shopping trip I’ve had in a loooooooong time. In spite of the holiday crowds, the parking garage catastrophe and the thirty minutes it took for me to drive the 4 miles home from the mall, it was awesome. Because of this:

Sorry for the extra blurry pics… but anyway, that is me, in size 14 skinny jeans (low-rise, even!) and size L tops. Aren’t my mismatched socks schweeeeeeet? No more XL for me! (At least not at Old Navy, hehe.) This is the first time since my Freshman year of college I’ve been a size 14!! I originally went into the store to grab some presents, but as I passed the jeans wall, I figured I might as well try on a pair of 14s just to see how much further I have to go. I knew my 16s were getting really loose, but I didn’t really think I had officially “dropped” the size yet. But I guess I did!

I don’t think I look too bad, either! One more size and I will officially be un-plus sized (foreverrrr!) As I was passing by stores, popping my head in, I wasn’t inwardly ashamed of the fact that I wouldn’t fit a single thing not defined as an accessory. I know that I’m still not at my goal, not where I want to ultimately be, but it feels really good even to just take a second right now.

I think that maybe this was the motivation I really have been needing to keep myself on track. I have already gotten this far – I can keep going, and I know I can get to the place I want to stay. 🙂

Next week I’m kicking back into gear with running and working out. Also, I‘m researching a new 5K to sign up for – they’re kind of sparse in the Northern Virginia/DC/Southern Maryland area in Jan/Feb, so we’ll have to see where we end up. I’m also eyeballing this huge DC St. Patrick’s Day 8K in March. Since March is still so far away, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that I could train for a 8K by that point, right? Incidentally, walking a full loop around Tysons Corner from end to end carrying 25 pounds in purchased retail is excellent exercise. 😛

Thanks for sticking with me this far, friends. Here’s to what’s to come!

  1. Woman, you look fantastic (nismatched socks and all)! Congrats on dropping down a size! You have made so much progress so far and I know it’s things like this that make all of the hard work worth it 🙂 Can’t wait to run some more races with you!!

  2. I was going to say, I like your socks!
And you look really great! Congrats on dropping a size! I am fitting into my pair of size 12 jeans again (though I think they must be a tad on the large side because I am also still wearing my size 16 jeans, and I have another pair of size 12 jeans which I’m not even trying on before I lose another 15 pounds) and it’s a great feeling isn’t it?

  3. Lookin’ GOOD!

  4. Woohooo!!!! Looking good, lady 🙂 And yes – sign up for the 8k!!

  5. So proud of you 🙂 you look great! I think we can train for the 8k in march and do a 5k beforehand!

  6. You look great! Hope you bought the jeans. You totally rock them! 🙂
