The Little Engine that Could

I think I can, I think I can… that’s my motto for today. Because, yes, people, it is time. Time for my triumphant return to the gym! I have been, admittedly & ashamedly, super slacking in the exercise department lately. And since Zumba is canceled today for Columbus Day (happy birthday, America!) I really need to literally step it up.

So I’m headed back to the gym after work today, and I’m going to relive my as-of-yet-one-time glory of running a mile. I am going to run a mile today! I think I can… Well, actually, I already know I can. It’s really more like, I think I’m willing.

I’m actually kind of excited to go to the gym today. Is that weird? I think I’ve really been feeling the lack of movement in my life. First I was sick, then I was just lazy. Story of my life. But it stops now! Again! Huzzah!

So my new mini-goal is 200 lbs by January 8th. That’s the day the Caribbean cruise I’m going on with my family sets sail! It’s okay to be jealous. 🙂 I’m sure when it gets closer to the holidays I’m going to be picking your brains for tips on how to resist holiday weight-gain, but just for simple math that means losing 17 lbs in 12 weeks. Totally doable, right? I want to keep my goals realistic but at the same time, I hope I lose way more than 17 lbs in the next 12 weeks… I know I have to temper my expectations though. Guess there’s nothing to do but see what happens!

UPDATE 6:14 PM: 1.41 miles! WHAT UP!!!!!

  1. Oh, you can totally do it! I know your new to WW but they give you such great holiday eating tips starting in early November! I still fall back on a few of them. Do you have the Weight Watchers cookbook? I’m pretty sure they have some amazing fall recipes in there for thanksgiving/christmas dinners. I actually made some of the side dishes last holiday season so I’d have some point conscious choices and everyone loved them. Good luck 🙂

  2. yayyyy so proud of you!! that is awesome 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. Laziness, I totally get it.
I’ve been feeling its sting for the last couple of weeks.

    Go forth and conquer!
