Non-weigh-in #1

Hello, all! How are you guys doing on this thoroughly gross, gloomy, shiverriffic morning? Well, it’s Weigh-in Monday, so you know what that’s supposed to mean. But, I have a little story for you first:

As I loomed in front of my scale early this morning, I was fraught with distress. As you all know, I was sick for the majority of last week, and as such, did not keep careful tabs on my diet. I also did not exercise at all (although my gut did get a pretty good workout from all the heaving and wretching.) And since I was feeling better by the weekend, I proceeded to nibble and munch quite a bit since I had been so deprived over the week. This extended into the party that we held at my parents’ house to celebrate my dad’s retirement, and you can all imagine how that went.

So I had been stressing over my weigh-in for most of last week, and I made an executive decision as I chewed my lip in front of the little metal square on my bathroom floor that controls my life this morning. I did not weigh myself today.

I think it’s really for the best, overall. I’m going to count this entire week as a “break”, or maybe some people would call it a “cheat week.” I just think that if I had gained, I wouldn’t be able to get over it despite knowing that this wasn’t a “real” week, and if I had lost, I wouldn’t be able to count it as a true loss because of how sick I was.

So, I’m sorry to disappoint any of you that might have been looking forward to seeing a number today. Also sorry if it seems cheap, like I’m just too scared of facing a potential gain to try. Maybe that’s true. But hey! It’s my journey, after all! 🙂

Comments are welcome on my decision to not weigh-in this week. Hopefully the anticipation that’s now doubled for next week won’t result in a giant let-down, haha!

  1. I think it’s not a bad decision and I support however you want to go about this- I agree that it was a difficult week/weekend for you so i am glad you are getting back on the wagon so to speak and hopefully next weigh in is a pleasant one! 🙂

  2. Very good decision, you do not want this weight loss to be all about numbers, and your decision is pointing you away from that common mistake. This way also, you can just focus on this coming up week and work towards the next goal

  3. I think you made a good decision too. 🙂 The last thing you should have to worry about when you’re ill is your weight. Excited to see what this next week brings!

  4. I think it was a good call, too. A good part of this journey is making good decisions and being the one in control. So this is a good example if both! We all look forward to the results next week when you have been back in the groove!

  5. I think it was a good decision! I know for me weighing myself is so double sided, sometimes it can depress me for the entire day and other times it’s just whatever “a number”. This is one of your big milestones to living a healthy life! Keep it up :).
