Womp Womp

So… yeah. Traffic at 6:30 PM on the Beltway? Not my friend. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to drive up to Columbia last night (normally takes 40), where the plan was to go to trivia with my sister, her hubby, and some of my friends. Needless to say, I did not make it to trivia. I was so exhausted after sitting in that traffic! Next time I will definitely be leaving straight from work and just wait for her to get home instead of dealing with all that. Although I’m sure there will still be a ton of traffic, even at 3:30. Le Sigh.

Anyway! Update. I left you all on Tuesday night right before heading to my new weekly Zumba class at the Falls Church Community Center. It was okay. I guess that because the first Zumba class I ever did (at Pengu Studio in McLean) was so intense, I was a little disappointed because this one was definitely designed for a much slower pace. I guess it really does just make a difference who your instructor is – at Pengu it was three Latin ladies jumping up and down and really making us work for it, and at FC it was one woman who proclaimed in the beginning of class that “some instructors focus on fitness, some focus more on dance. I focus more on dancing.” So it just wasn’t as intense (who ever would have thought that I would long for more intensity in a workout? Who am I?!?)

Overall, it was still good for me to get out and get moving, and it was fun to see all of the moms and older women strutting their stuff. As you can see below, I still was able to get my sweat on, that’s for sure! Since I’ve paid for the “season,” I’ll definitely be going back next week. Might try to swing Pengu Zumba on Fridays as well — we’ll see!

So yesterday after work (I housed the rest of my leftover flax-squash chips and chicken stir fry for lunch) I went to the hairdresser! Aleese at Bubbles Tysons is my girl. I’ve been going to her since I cut my hair short, and she’s awesome! I decided I was getting really bored with my hair (happens frequently) so I decided to get…

Highlights! Yes, I sat looking like a space cadet with all that foil in my hair for a little while, but I think it turned out pretty sweet!  I got highlights lifted into my hair with bleach, and then she toned a few copper chunks on the under-layers of my hair, too. So I have two-toned hair now (well, three-toned if you count my natural color too!), and she cut it into a bit of a choppy angled bob so I feel like a rockstar! She styled it up with some pomade and whatnot to make it look extra wicked last night, but this pic is from this morning after it just air-dried (running late for work = no time for blow drying.)

Don’t know if you can pick out the highlight colors that well, but I’m sure I’ll be posting more pictures later, so don’t worry. 😉

So the hair appointment is why I got on the road to visit the sissypoo so late last night. Once I made it to her place and determined that trivia was simply not happening, I ate this delicious, healthy meal that she cooked for me:

A small pork chop, swiss chard, and butternut squash! It was all delicious (I ended up scarfing down an extra cup of the squash after I cleaned my plate!), and even the pork chop was cooked perfectly! My sister is a vegetarian, so I always give her mad props for cooking meat for me (although her hubby is a mad carnivore, so I guess she has plenty of practice!)

The two of us watched America’s Next Top Model and Hellcats and then I peaced out to drive back to FC (amazing how quick of a trip it is when you’re driving at 10:30 at night!) So despite the traffic, it ended up being a really nice night! And tonight should be just as good. Get excited, people:

Even if you don’t watch the show, you should still be excited. It’s just that awesome. 😀
