So I had a pretty good day today, actually. Until now, because I feel kind of sick to my stomach — hence the “bleghhhh” part. But at least I have So You Think You Can Dance to look forward to! FINALE!! 🙂 I don’t know if any of you watch, but I am SUCH a fan, and for once I actually don’t mind if any of the top three (Robert, Kent, or Lauren) win, because they’re all so amazing! And stupid Adechike is OUT, bwahahaha. I think I’m still rooting for Robert though, despite how much I love Kent’s cutiepatootie face.

Okay, breakdown —

B-fast: plain greek yogurt with blueberries and a handful of Special K mixed in. Then I had a hardboiled egg white (hardboiled yolk = vom) as my mid-morning snack. Then I got hungry again like half an hour later, so I had a small cup of mandarin oranges as my mid-mid-morning snack.

Lunch: a  flat out wrap (these are great – 100 calories per wrap, full of whole wheat and added flax seed!) filled with 2 tbsp of hummus and a whole slew of veggies (red & green peppers, spinach, red onion, and a wee bit o’ avocado), and some of my corn & bean salad on the side.

As my snack when I got home I had a teaspoon of peanut butter. And then I felt sick after cleaning my room and bathroom (but I did it, and got all sweaty doing it too, so I count it as a mini-workout, hehe) so I haven’t eaten dinner yet. :-/ I don’t want it to slow down my metabolism but the thought of eating is literally making me want to vom right now… I don’t know what’s going on with me 🙁

ANYWAY. Gym tomorrow, I think. My arms are super sore from yesterday still, so I think I’ll only do a little cardio (well, my fatty version of cardio, anyway) and maybe some crunches (!!)

I gotta say, everyone has been so supportive, I’m actually starting to think that this whole putting-it-all-out-there blog thing isn’t such a huge mistake after all, haha. So thank you all! Hopefully things continue to go well, as I keep myself on track. I mean, hey! 3 days in! You gotta start somewhere, right?

All right, I think I’m going to try to settle my stomach and actually scarf something down, since I don’t want my body to think it’s just getting 600 calories today – a slower metabolism is not something I need right now. Goodnight everybody!

EDIT 9:54 PM: I did end up eating some dinner (LATE dinner): 1 oz chicken breast sautéed in 1 tbsp olive oil over 1 cup romaine leaves with 1 chopped up hardboiled egg and a splash of red wine vinegar.

  1. Some of it may just be your body adjusting to a whole new routine. Hope you are feeling better this morning!

Remember, this process is kind of a “slow and steady wins the race” kind of deal. I have been at it for the past two years and have hopes that THIS time I have made enough of a life-style adjustment and have enough new routine to have it stick, rather than just put it all back on in a fraction of the time it took to take it off!

Keep it up! PROUD OF YOU!

By the way, I agree with one of the other commenters, I try to limit myself to two weigh-ins per week: Monday & Friday. Try to bracket the weekend to provide motivation over the toughest time! First thing in the morning, for maximum effect!

  2. Congrats on starting your blog! I hope the community gives you some great support on your journey (that sounds like you are going on The Bachelorette). Sorry.

On a side note, you dog is the cutest thing I have ever seen. I want to squeeze him so hard…but not too hard.

Hahahaha, yeah, I’m kind of obsessed with him. I have another pupster, too, Harry is way older but adorable in his own way. I’m sure there will be many more photos of the two of them to come, don’t worry!!

  3. Congrats on starting a blog! I found you through fANNEtastic food. I love having a teaspoon (or in my case tablespoon..) of PB as a snack. It is perfect!

I love it! I actually just bought a jar of almond butter today at Whole Foods because I keep hearing raves about it… it might replace PB as my quick calorie boost if it lives up to the hype (I’ve never actually had it before though!)

  4. Hey Gretchen, I’m Maren from http://www.simplymaren.com. I’m so excited you’ve turned to blogging to help you on this journey. It seriously was the secret magic for me. I’m 5 foot 10 and I’m so excited to find a tall person’s blog to read, everyone out there is so petite. So- not helping (if you know what I mean). Feel free to check out my healthy living blog if you want. I’m so excited to follow you on this amazing new venture. Happy blogging!

Thanks Maren! I know exactly what you mean, being on the taller side of things shifts your perspective for sure – ’cause even if someone is heavier, being petite seems to never affect their cuteness!

  5. Sounds like a good day, except for the feeling sick. I cleaned the bathroom the other day and also counted it as exercise as I definitely got a little sweaty doing it.
Hope you feel better tomorrow (or today?)!
